Was I wrong to kick up a fuss?

Post by Bailes1992 »

So I'm sat on the edge of my boot this afternoon changing my boots for practical in college.

There's about 4 of us who hang around together. Me, Other Sam, Chubby and Ginger.

So Other Sam is doing the same as me and his parked next to me.
Ginger pulls a BB gun out of Other Sam's car, takes the magazine out, cocks it, fires it into some trees and then points it point blank at my face.

As you can imagine I went absolutley ape sh*t screaming and shouting accross the carpark. Ginger told me I was being unreasonable, totally over the top etc. Other Sam and Chubby said he was stupid but generally couldn't care less.

Was I right to go as mental as I did?

I'm afraid I had to Google BB gun  What I was trying to find out was if this is a serious weapon capable of causing injury or some sort of toy:

So I guess it qualifies as a gun - you should NEVER point a gun at anyone, even if you are sure it's empty (hey, someone might have reloaded it while you weren't looking). This is a fairly international standard too, possibly with the proviso unless you plan to use it...

If I were you I'd stay away from him, he probably still wouldn't understand even if you explain this to him so just blow him out. As for the braincell brothers, keep an eye on them too.

Hey, are these things even legal to be waived about in public?

Aye kids can buy them, i have one on my amphibious tank in my caravan i used it one day to send 4 cans of strongbow to my mate.... then i shot him for good measure.

In the leg of course and he was wearing jeans.

Sam without seeing what went down gansta style  i can't really comment on your reaction but these things can hurt especially if he hit you in the eye so you'd be justified if you turned the gun on him and kicked his ass.

Oddly enough a mate of mine did that to me with an air rifle when I was at school, he thought it would sting a bit. To be fair it wasn't his gun so he didn't know it'd been modified and he did wait with me for 4 hours in casualty.

Did a quick Google search, and found a large number of BB gun-related fatalities. Here's just 5:

In short, you were perfectly justified in going apeshit. Your "friend" needs to get a grip.

You probably shouldn't fall out about it, just be honest and tell him you nearly sh*t yourself as you didn't expect it and you don't like stuff near your eyes (I don't either). He was silly to do that but probably didn't mean any real harm (if he is a 'mate' normally).

He might be thinking you over reacted, you could probably joke next time that you'll wear a crash helmet to college to break the ice about it, so to speak.
