Anyone used these number plate holders?
Hiya guys, I want to be able to switch between a couple of sets of plates without too much messing about. I've screwed the current set on (being the easiest solution for interchanging plates) but I don't really like the look of it, the front bumper is curved and the edges of the plate end up half an inch in front of the bumper. The original ones were stuck on and looked much better. So I'm thinking should I get a set of these holders which could be screwed and stuck permanently in position and allow the plates to be swapped over easily...
Anyone used them? Any good?

The chrome ones are no good mate.
after afew months or so they start to peel and you end up with what looks like car filler.
chrome is crap anyway get the black ones

Black looks better.
So royal mail has got so bad that you can receive the ones from Poland before the ones in pontefract are even sent.

The chrome ones would look tacky anyway. Unfortunately the black ones look like the ones they use here (plates stay with the owner, not the car) and the one on my boot lid rattles almost constantly. I know I should pack it out but...

Used heavy duty Velcro on my VX220 to keep plates on. Far easier if you are switching regularily.
Re: Anyone used these number plate holders?
at the risk of asking the obvious. why do you need to switch them regularly?

Well not "regularly" as such, but even "occasionally" is a pain in the arris if they're stuck on, and screwed on just doesn't look right.
I'm going to have a set of showplates made up without the big space.
Not really worried about the plates being nicked, if someone wanted them they'd have them anyway, a couple of screws or a bit of double sided sticky stuff won't stop them...

Don't they just take a pic and get their dodgy mate to make a cloned set?DaiRees wrote:Well not "regularly" as such, but even "occasionally" is a pain in the arris if they're stuck on, and screwed on just doesn't look right.

Re: Anyone used these number plate holders?
we use these at work, though branded at the bottom with the dealership name.
if you get the correct ones then you need a special "key" to open them up to enable you to swap the plates.
i have one ready to go on the rear of my alfa, as im intending to do alot of foreign travel in it, but hate GB stickers and the tags on the end of plates so ill get a set of plain number plates and a set of GB plates made up and swap as required
