ididnt have any problems, persuading the bush back in, having it in the freezer helps,
and perhaps applying grease round it,
ijust tapped them back in with a small pin hammer, no big effort needed,
its getting it out thats the Challenge,

Cheers for the advice lozz!
I'll probably attempt it Saturday morning so. Now that I no its not so much of a pain to get the mount back in, I'm actually looking forward to doing the job and having a nice smooth clutch and a dash that doesn't put most dildos to shame!

I didn't realise they had to go in any particular way!!
Must have dropped lucky when I did the job on my old D8, I do get quite a lot of vibration on ny new car but the mount looks solid so I crossed that off the list of possible reasons - I'll have to have another look at it.
Don't suppose anyone has a diagram of the correct orientation of a 1.9td bottom engine mount???

Its easy enough to work out which way they shouid be in,
if you look at the bush, theres gaps either side and then a Solid part,
the gaps shouid be at both sides so it will give it a few mm movement,
iput a picture up on one of the threads, but theres been some many on this icarnt rember which one
if there put in wrong you dont have to remove it fully you can tap them round,
the first one idid iput in wrong, and Realised after hearing the vibration in the dashboard,

Ok so I decided to go ahead and give the engine mount a go today. After hearing about lozz's experience and the freezer I thought i'd piss through the job lol.
Anyways the old bush came out no problem at all. I just used a strong screw driver to split the rest of the inside rubber and then my jigsaw with a metal blade cut through the outer metal casing, a few bangs with a chisel and out she went.
I took off the turbo pipe so as to make a bit of room to swing the hammer with more ease, sanded down and greased the inside of the mounting bracket and then fetched the new mount from the freezer. Low and behold wouldn't you know it the new mount wouldn't go in
No matter what way i hit it with the hammer it would barely go in a millimeter. I nearly had a sh*t attack but then i remembered a trick someone had told me about a while back for putting in bushes. I took my bench grinder out and ground the entire casing around and round for bout 15 minutes and then smoothed it off with the fine stone. But even than it still took a hell of a lot of persuading with a lump hammer to push it in. I could swear I took at least half a millimeter off all round!
Even if I had have taken the drive shaft out and tried to hammer the mount in on the ground there's no way i could have done it. The new mount was just way to big, even when frozen. I get the feeling that some of these mountings and possibly some of the aluminium brackets, aren't built to very high tolerance's and so what must be happening is some people are finding it easy enough to tap the new one in and others like me not so much
Anyway no more vibrating dash board for me and just in case anyone wants to know the brand of the new mount I used is QH

Hi Keppler. I first of all used a drill to take out the rubber section of the mount (less time than a hacksaw) then I was able to get in there with a hacksaw and take out the metal ring. This did take less time than getting it back in!!! I did have to unbolt the mount from the block just to be able to get better access to it but I then used silicone spray and a lump hammer to get it in and it did after a while go in
this was done outside my house with the car on jacks and all told took about an hour and a half to do. I must admit I never knew about a right or wrong way of putting them in and there was no markings to say which way!!! But I must of bad luck on my side as its all good now
Nice idea about putting it in the freezer ;)

Just seen a page 3 to the post and that you had ago. I got my part from main dealer so maybe this is why it was a little easier to get in than yours sounded! And I'll now have to have another look to see if mine is in the right way now that I know.
