idle fine but won't rev

please help anybody.newbie here

1998 peugeot 406 auto 2.0 16v petrol 135hp from indonesia.

firstly, I replace converter oil seal from 4hp20 box. job done.
try to start the car. easy starter, idle fine and smooth. but won't rev up at all, even a litlle press on accelerator pedal. big throttle up will make backfire on throttle body.

really strange issue. i tought it correlated with engine speed sensor. replace it, the problem still.
has replace another part from other engine like : ECU (bosch mp5.2), double relay, coil pack, plug, stepper motor, coolant temp sensor, fuel pressure reg, fuel pump, complete throttle body include TPS......
about 2 connector bottom battery...will it cause this symptom? i cutt them and connecting directly without connector again.
the result is nothing

something make the mechanic weird is when the engine running at idle, if some sensors socket are released, like stepper motor, coolant temp sensor, there is no change at all. still idle fine.

maybe, about engine harness which torned when place the gearbox. but I trace from ecu to all sensors, all good connection (tested with multitester)

what should I do again......i think all have been done.

my friend tell me that it maybe cambelt snapped/jumped? is this possible happen?in the case no touch that part.....

Perhaps you trapped a fuel line and there is only enough fuel to idle? Can your mechanic test the fuel pressure while the engine is running?

Tdc /crank sensor?

if the Gearbox as been out at sometime, iwouid check no wires or wiring are trapped or have been trapped in that process,
seen it happen,

was the car running ok before you had the Autobox out?

you have to re-trace your steps on this one me thinks before you end up chasing your own tail

I will take a look at fuel line problem. looks my mechanic don't have pressure gauge
just tried open the hose at fuel pressure reg, then start the engine.....banggg...lot of petrol out.......(traditional method )

before the gearbox out...car run normal. even can achieve 160kmh at 3rd gear...180++ at 4th gear.
yeah..pp2000 just throw fault "purge canister solenoid valve permanent fault" but this part is no available on my car.

crank sensor, try to replace, no result.

can the timing belt jumpped 2 teeth, advance or retard..? my friend say it's immposible because no touch that section.

I agree with the mechanic that it is unlikely for the timing belt to have jumped a couple of teeth. Still, it might be worth checking the timing just to eliminate it.

The transmission ecu is connected to the engine ecu, I wonder what the chances are of the one affecting the other

Many times the fault codes these cars produce are meaningless without the experience to know exactly what they mean...

I agree with line 3 and 4 of your states.
after cross check that engine harness in good connection..next transsmision ecu (harness) as the suspect

leak from TC oil seal, worn bushing, worn TC neck bearing (I don't know the exact name )
maybe too much install-reinstall, almost 4x...the trainy harness disturbed.

yes...the flywheel has gone back in.

if you suspect (harness) loom,
id get a decent peice of loom with good connectors off a breaker and start a fresh,
other than, you May need a Auto electrician,

very hard find and expensive enough for decent loom.....second hand engine harness (only) quote me about 300 pound
new complete harness (engine, autobox, interior, bla..bla..bla..) from authorized dealer quote about 1400 pound
never find complete harness from second hand, because never scrap 406 here, except accident car.

used 1997 peugeot 406 just about 3000-3500 pound.

for sure the last option, call a auto electrician..maybe only quote 50-75 pound

after re-wiring engine harness, i notice nothing.all in good connection.

re-install them..try to start the car.
good starting, idle fine n smooth
but the problem still...if i touch the accelerator pedal, the engine won't rev (like overfuelling)

thinking about fuel system problem, i try disconnected vaccuum hose from fuel pressure reg.
drip fuel from the nipple.....what is this mean?
is't leaking FPR cause erratic idle?

and can ECU fail cause this sympthoms?

updated :

start the car....engine running normally, smooth idle. attach peugeot planet.
as soon as throttle opened, intermittent engine speed sensor faulty occured.

check wires go to ECU, good connection.
change with new engine speed sensor, still peugeot planet show intermittent fault.

anyone know what caused this faulty?

I'm not sure if this one counts the teeth on the starter motor ring gear but if it does perhaps it has some teeth damaged or missing

starter motor gear or flywheel which missing...?
