That kit's got more bits than you probably need - I used two of these: http://www.gsfcarparts.com/457pc0180

I just had to get one of these replaced. boing was not the word.. more of a crunch, twang and Ooooo sh*t that just dont sound right.. Not to good when a full load of punters were in the taxi as i left the train station.. Not to worry its sorted and sweet as a nut now. 1 x Top bearing and 1 x Drop link. 1 mechanic. 4 spring compressors and a fair load of swearing when one of the compressors let go and just missed taking the end of his finger clean off
The only problem i now have is the other side is starting to give out a few little twangs on pulling back onto the rank. Cheers Doggy for the link because that top bearing is half the price i payed just a week ago for one from a local supplier

406 D9 2002 in Met blue . Full leather interior. Fully working puddle lights (LED's). Both interior lights work from the front switched light (LED's). Door handle Lights (internal LED's). Yup i love LED's but not as much as the BSI does .

Too late. One side speing is broken. As someone pointed out in another post the seized bearing probably put extra load on the spring causing to snap overnight. Same ahppened to my last 406 overnight too.
Anyhows, should i get the top strut rubber mounts as well as the bearings and springs or do these usually last an eternity? Not seen anyone have any issues with the rubbers on 406.

I just changed the bearings, the rubbers were fine (and mine had done about 100k more than yours).

The Mot tester iuse as started adding Advisorys to all mots isued if the coating on a Suspension spring is loose
or if there are any damage to the coating during fitting of the Spring, iguess its all down to the paint used, thin plastic coating,

During winter and early spring, a regular clean underneath the car with a hose or pressure washer might help extend spring life.
