Not satisfied with solid flywheel converion.
So....
Yesterday i picked my car up from the garage that did a solid flywheel conversion to it (Valeo kit). Atm it has 85000 miles, there was some squeeking, there was vibration on acceleration and idle and chatter(judder) and pull off.
The guy from the garage called me, said the job was done but there is some slight vibration on the pedal that is apparently "normal" when converting as said from some so called Valeo expert he knows.
I picked up the car and the 1st thing i noticed the massage the clutch pedal was giving me, and i'm not talking little vibration, im talking about not feeling ur foot after 30 sec if u have contact with the padal. The vibration stops after the clutch starts disengaging and there is no vibration all the way down to the floor.
I can live with the massage, but what bothers me the most is the VIOLENT, and i really mean violent chatter (judder) when pulling off, especially reversing. It can also be felt when shifting to 2nd and also pronounced when downshifting in lower gears, it chatters at exact moment the clutch is engaging.
Now, ive read a lot of posts regarding conversion including some on these forums and ppl were most satisfied describing clutch as smooth and chatter was only the problems when they had DMF. But i just cant find no1 talk about it after the conversion.
Other than that car seems just a bit rougher at hard acceleration which is normal afaik. I dont know should i call the guy or not, he can allways say it cause of the solid flywheel...
Any thoughts what the problem might be?

Re: Not satisfied with solid flywheel converion.
Floodys runs a solid flywheel conversion. Having driven his car around Snetterton pits I genuinely couldn't tell the difference between that and one with a DMF fitted.
Re: Not satisfied with solid flywheel converion.
Nah thats not right mate,
take it back to them,
take it back to them,

Agreed. Go back to them and tell them the car is undrivable

Re: Not satisfied with solid flywheel converion.
It's quite clear to me it's not how it supposed to be. But i dont get it, why is that happening? Why does it vibrate? Why does it chatter? Could the friction plate be turned on the wrong side? I was thinking about doing the job myself as its not really complicated, its just about getting all the things out/down. The whole flywheel, friction plate, that thing that presses (dont know how its called in English) assembly is quite simple. How can one do it wrong, especially Pug/Citroen expert.
Re: Not satisfied with solid flywheel converion.
Did you buy the kit your self, or did they order it in?
ihad a problem with a Valeo clutch Recently but that was on a Fiat,

Bought it myself. Got some discount, that's why i did it. What was the problem?

Theres some Dodgey Valeo Clutch plates floating about mate,
not saying the one you got was a Dodgey one but igot hit twice with two duff plates,

Re: Not satisfied with solid flywheel converion.
Expert my arse
They broke it so they should fix it, unfortunately I know this is Croatia and not the UK. I can find out where you stand but I suspect it'll take years if they deny all responsibility.
I suspect that if they put the friction plate on backwards the clutch just would not work.
Edit: Nice one Lozz. I think the one about bending the diaphragm spring with the input shaft sounds quite likely. This is part of the clutch cover which I think is what you didn't know the English for Igor.

Re: Not satisfied with solid flywheel converion.
That might solve the pedal vibration. Violent chatter is still a mystery. And ye steve_erwing, u r from Croatia, u know how our garages are. He might be an expert but yesterday i saw ppl that were working there, young men age 20ish. Also, in Croatia, its hard to convince a dealer that they made a mistake, convincing a private garage might be impossible.
Reading Lolzz posts and the valeo troubleshooter something tells me bad pressure plate or flywheel surface might be the issue.

Re: Not satisfied with solid flywheel converion.
can you rember what the clutch plate looked like ?
in the centre where the Spline part is was there circle plastic clip

Re: Not satisfied with solid flywheel converion.
Uh, i don't really remember. Wasn't really inspecting parts, only counted them.

ok mate, rom wrote:Uh, i don't really remember. Wasn't really inspecting parts, only counted them.
Just take the car back to them and let them know your not happy,
They need to look over there Work,
If they still preach to you that these problems are all known with solid fly wheel conversions tell them to do some Research,
some early Mk2 d9 406s where fitted Standard with solid fly wheels,
Most Citroens 110bhps come standard with Solid fly wheels, too, so if theyre was known problems with them PSA wouidnt fit them to the car in first place,
IT couid still be down to abad part and not bad work,

The part ihad trouble with on the Valeo clutchs was the long travel damper see above link which isnt related to valeo just posted for reference,
that part failed on the two plates ifitted, first time round ithought id smashed the centre of the clutch out,
