Re: Daily driver...
Now my daily driver as of the 1st of Aug
Very smooth, very comfortable and very smokey
Not a riot to drive like my van but I prefer the relaxed style of driving and diesel fuel prices
So the 406 has replaced this:

A few other bits I had to do...
Painted the sills

Fitted front speakers

A radio to match, from the van

And some flat blade wipers

Exhaust needs sorting, it fell apart twice this week
So as it stands:

Plenty to do still

Good work mate, is that a nasty crack in the screen?
Re: Daily driver...
Yep, like that when I got itscotty73 wrote:Good work mate, is that a nasty crack in the screen?

Apart from an electrical niggle, the car is flyin for me

Here it is on a recent trip to the wesht of Ireland...

Re: Daily driver...
Must update a bit...
A lot can happen in a few weeks!
First, the exhaust blew up and fumed out the cabin

New backbox time

Modified to fit

Back to that later...
Still trying to sort that stupid elec problem

This didn't cure the problem

Tore out almost everything in the fusebox area

Cleaned every wire that looked like this

Tested circuits

Still broke!
In the process, found out the car had gone on fire before I bought it....

Think I'll rewire the lot myself when I have the time...
Moving on, needed new springs badly.
So out with these lowering jobbies...

New rear drop links

Why I needed those new springs

And the result was... Well...

Got a full set of normal springs

And wheels

Looks much better

As for the exhaust....

Currently in the process of losing the vinyl, fiddling with fuelling and just enjoying driving it

Re: Daily driver...
True to my word
De vinyled

Played with some yellows

Brightish 501s

Silvered up the morrors

New hubs with discs and calipers

Ashwood ashtray

Then... Oooopsie as I was reversing out of my yard!

Finally...

Have spotted a transit pump to buy and mutilate into my own pump

Re: Daily driver...
I've had to make a decision on the car. After looking at a few floppy bits on it and weighing the costs, I can't justify the work or money needed to put it fully right. The fickle windows really left me scratching my head!
So, at the end of the month, my car will be stripped to a bare shell and scrapped.... Pity, it's a hoot of a car!
But what have I lined up as a direct replacement....?

In it's new home

I'll start a thread as soon as I start work on the red car

Re: Daily driver...
Too many problems with it so he'll put the good parts from it on the purple one (you can do that when cars are cheap

I'll be working my magic on that one tooAres wrote:wow, a second 406,nice one.

No sunroof so I'm delighted! Only elec niggle is a flashing airbag light, I think a new module is in order

As for why I'm stripping the other car, just too much wrong with it electrically, despite my efforts. This one really annoyed me and has left me scratching my head
