Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

few questions

Post by largo83 »

Hi guys and gals i got a few questions regarding the electrics
1:i have a 110 amp battery that i would like to install in my pug but im not sure if the eletctrics can cope with the extra load of current and the battery is a big one so i have to modify the tray where it sits
2:i have under the front seats on the seat itself a lot of wires and conectors that would suggest that it has heated seats but no switch and no connectors under center console and i have a connector in the cruise control location but no switch too
thats all for now thanks everyone in advance

Hi largo, what engine and equipment your car have, maybe heated seats werent installed in your car, those wires are just left there.
I am not sure if heated seats were regular option in all 406. but if not that would explain the lack of connectors under center console.

I think you will find the wires under the seats are for the seatbelt pretensioners and the side airbags in the seat backs.

The wiring was all there in my D8 and it's all there in the '9 (apart from the redundant brake light switch wiring :( )

If the 110 amp battery is still 12 volts why would it overload anything? Just check you'll still be able to shut the bonnet before you go cutting things about

the connectors are right at the front edge of the seat so too far from pretentioners and airbag and the battery is the same height as a normal car battery but is only the lenght that is deferent

You'll probably find the connectors are there on the seats but there's no wires in them that goes off into the seats, my D9 was like this, it also lacked the switches and the relay but the wiring and connectors were all there. viewtopic.php?f=17&t=16316&p=160120&hil ... pg#p160120

The connectors for the pretensioners and air bags (if fitted) are also at the front of the seats.
