The bl###dy top bleed cap has decided to crack. Its 4am on a cold and frosty sunday morning, just in from work, noticed steam coming up from under bonnet and found coolant coming out of rad bleed point, the caps there but its split and no local dealers open on a Sunday. Is this cap the same as a tyre cap? I dont want to remove it to try just in case its not (as well as a risk of scalding myself)
Sorry. Rant over! Any advice much appreciated

Re: Bleeding coolant
Eh? The one on the rad is a plastic screw with a seal round it, is this the one you mean? The others are the same size as tyre valve caps, when I lost the one off my thermostat housing on an autobahn in Germany (
) I was a bit concerned about using an actual valve cap because I thought it would be too soft, so shortly afterwards replaced it with a brass one, but mjb said he was driving about with one on his car for years.
