HELP PLEASE!!! Can't lock car without alarm going off!!

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

HELP PLEASE!!! Can't lock car without alarm going off!!

Post by impster »

Right, I'm unable to lock the car without the alarm going off.

When the passenger door is locked, it seems to be triggering the 'door open' message.

I'm also unable to lock the car from inside - the central locking 'locks' all doors, and then a second later 'unlocks' them. This is accompanied by a quick flash of the interior and 'puddle' lights.

I need to go somewhere tomorrow with work in the car, and it's not the type of place i can dare leave it unlocked.

Please help!!!! - Is there a quick fix?????

it might be a chaffed wire in the door loom,
the 406 estate ihad did this and we had to use connector block on a broken wire,

might not be that but worth alook,

its a while since i looked at this but if you can unplug the passenger door, twist the big plug and tuck it where its not gonna get trapped, that should disable that door from the central locking and allow you to lock the car.The passenger door will have to be locked/unlocked manually but it'll do for now

Where would I find the plug? The rear doors have a twist plug supplying the doors, but can't see an easy way to unplug the front doors.

Many thanks for the help all.

You pull the rubber Gromet out on the end of the loom,

iirc theres a white plug and a green plug, press the clip in and they unplug,

Ok - problem seems to have been solved. Not sure how, but I took the door panel off, and got rid of the useless piece of foam covering the aperatures.

Got out the old WD40 and sprayed onto moving parts.

It seems to be working ok now.

Time will tell.

I might still buy a good used door loom and lock mechanism though - cheap enough (used) on the bay as a 'just in case' measure.

Erm, anyone got one for a passenger side front door and a drivers side rear door going spare?

Or, can I use something else instead...
