For Sale '96 406 DT 7 seat 110bhp +*PICS*

Post by DrRog »

Dear all,

Unfortunately my "much loved" 406 family estate has failed its MOT and needs a few things done. They are too expensive for me to pay for, an expert with some spares might get it back on the road, but I assume it will go for spares.

The engine is the 110bhp 12v turbo diesel. The car has 7 seats and is an LX trim.

Photos will have to wait until tomorrow, as will the fail certificate and other details.

Anybody interested get in quick :D

Here are some photos.

To summarise:
Under 135k miles. Some supporting MOTS.

Fitted with a tow-ball. :D

I have fitted a new rear box, oil and filter, and re-gassed the A/C. I also re-soldered the dials as posted on this forum. They work perfectly 8)

Faults are as MOT fail certificate.

The water leak is from the radiator bottom hose, which a is a difficult repair to guarantee so my tame mechanic advised a new rad and hose and cam belt to ensure future use. You may have more experience with this model.

The previous owner said that his predecessor had changed the gearbox but I have no supporting documentation.

Sold as seen cash on collection £200. Tax disk extra.
Please contact through PM.

If you were closer I'd have it mate, but in all honesty you'll be looking at close to £200 on the weigh bridge so I wouldn't drop the price any more.

If you need it gone and you don't get any takers soon I'd strip the easy stuff and ebay them then weigh the rest in and cash in the tax.

I've noticed a few members with problems with blower motors lately and light clusters are always a handy spare to have. Even wheels and tyres if anyone local needs a spare steel with a bit more tread they want to swap.

It needs new drop links, a new exhaust, a new bush and the rear brakes rebuilding :?

Dammit wish I had the space and money.

Thanks Guys

I sold a lot of parts from the car I scrapped earlier this year, it raised some useful cash but its a lot of trouble. I see it as a useful contribution to my mates on the forum - Volvo forum in that case.

I want rid of this quick as I need the driveway space, but I can't find the V5 yet

I missed driving it last night - the replacement used £90 of fuel in 330 miles
The pug would use £80 in 500

Do they still do so, or did they once when people where more interested in the 406 ?

I had a similar situation with my 940. The rearmost seats where reasonably expensive, but now the market has contracted, only a few owners would want them so the price has dropped to £40, (and may not sell at that.) So I sold them with the car.

The 7 seater market is well served, Zaphiras are now only £1000. :|
