engine oil pressure light
Hi all
Ive just noticed that my engine oil pressure light dont come on with the other lights when i put the ignition on?
Ive had car just over a month now and it prob never has come on to be fair-just noticed today though?
Car drives fine so not sure why the light not coming on--is it supposed too?
I am now thinking oil pressure switch??
I located it (just above oil filter) and unplugged the electrical connector--then tried again with ignition on--still no light--???
Any ideas
Car is a 03 plate 2.0hdi 110.
Thanks

Re: engine oil pressure light
Dean,
Oil gauages don't neccesarily refer to pressure, it depends on the trim level. My old GLX had oil level when the ignition first went on then it reverted to oil temp.
Does the gauge move at all?

i haven,t got an oil temp guage?
The light im talking about is a red oil can that would normally come on with ignition then go off 1-3 secs after starting car if all was well?
Mine in not lighting up at all??

First port of call would be checking the bulb hasn't blown, my GLX was a D8, your D9 probably has vastly different functionality.

Re: engine oil pressure light
thats what i was thinking but i bet not a nice job getting clocks out?
i think they are LEDS aswell so they shouldnt fail?
Anyone got a D9 same year as mine can confirm should this light up with ignition?
Thanks

Re: engine oil pressure light
Don't worry - it isn't meant to work, the oil pressure warning light isn't used on later HDi's.
Low oil pressure is one of the functions that will bring up the big STOP light.

i just changed me oil today which made me look i guess...i used the pela 6000 oil extractor got best part of 3 n half to 4 litres out (more when i took off filter) saved gettin under(lazy)
ebay had a great deal on some triple qx 10w 40 5litres for £12.90 so i thought why not--lol
Thanks again for the help..
Re: engine oil pressure light
I'd be careful using those oil sucker things, they get the oil but don't get all the "bits" out, which can cause problems later in life.
I'm not saying don't use it, but I'd recommend a drain from time to time.

I had the same dilema with my previous 52 plate 110 Rapier,i had the dash out and checked the led's and then bought and fitted a new oil pressure switch and when that didn't work i fitted a secondhand dash pod (which actually added 12k miles to my original mileage doh!) then found out the light shouldn't illuminate after all !!!!!deanthedude1977 wrote:i nearly went n bought a new pressure switch aswell--lolDoggy wrote:Don't worry - it isn't meant to work, the oil pressure warning light isn't used on later HDi's.
