yes the rac are shite, if you break down too far away from one of there employees to tow you, they will get a 'local' recovery firm to tow you to the nearest garage, wanka's

i dont even bother with breakdown cover, if i cant fix it, what bloody chance do the AA have?

but what if i really cant fix it? bugga then i really am stuck :|

I'd have thought a fair chance given they drive around in vans full of tools and various 'bits'. The AA don't do proper repairs, they're just there to get you out of sh*t.

Say your alternator cable comes loose and you don't notice because your dashboard light's failed, so your battery inexplicably dies, or your sump plug somehow falls out or something daft like that... Sure those are easy enough to fix, but what if it happens at the bottom of a valley in the middle of the countryside miles away from civilisation at 3am? A years AA/RAC membership is a lot cheaper than a tow :)

All valid points, but why not do like i do, car insurance with Marks & Spencers and full RAC cover included for free. Ok i shopped around and i pay about 60.00 more for insurance but RAC for free. Had them out twice, one for when car locked itself with keys in

...and another for not starting one morning, local firm for keys within the hour, RAC for starting within the hour.

I like it because i do 100 motorway miles a day and tows are exspensive, also i dont need to remember to rejoin as done as part of insurance 8)

Id only forget if it wasnt
