Re: 406 HDI GLOW PLUG RELAY
That what we were thinkin lozz? I have just posted where the flow and returns run. I don't know if this would make a difference, but the retaining clip on the return on the top of the fuel filter (green one) is snapped and the pipe just pushes on. It's not leaking any fuel out though???
Re: 406 HDI GLOW PLUG RELAY
The pump on the hdi isnt timed,
but obviously if you remove it, you will have to lock off the cam and crank,
iwouidnt condemn the Hp pump, ithink what you have there is an electrical problem rather than Mechanical,
What id do is make sure the pipes on the filter are correct,
and then go through and check all the connections to sensors, Cam /crank etc,

You need that pipe sorting mate,womble171 wrote:That what we were thinkin lozz? I have just posted where the flow and returns run. grab a fresh pipe off a breaker,

Thanks lozz, I will post some picturegraphs in a min so you can see what I have got.
I have just had a quick look at that link Steve. Some interesting reading there! Gonna have a good look at it when my car emergency cousin gets here

pipes look alright
compare it to this,

Re: 406 HDI GLOW PLUG RELAY
That broken clip wouldn't stop it from starting would it?
The top certainly looks the same.
I noticed the car I took the third fuel filter housing off, the flow and return on the bottom of the filter where looped together? Would it be worth trying that with mine? It wasnt a cocked up loop, it was a proper piece of pipe?
One more thing I have just thought of with you saying it could be electrical is....I have had a go at doing a bsi reset but my remote central locking does not work....will it still do the reset as you have to hold the button on the fob down for ten sec and then follow the rest of the procedure? Just a thought though an I could be miles off??

dunno mate TBH, but once its running itl no doubt fire the pipe off if its loose,womble171 wrote:That broken clip wouldn't stop it from starting would it?

Bsi -reset shouid work Regardless of the remote key is working or not,womble171 wrote:That broken clip wouldn't stop it from starting would it?

The fuel regulator youve got on the car now,is that the original or the one youve got off a Breaker?
Re: 406 HDI GLOW PLUG RELAY
I will try and source a new pipe tomorrow.

Re: 406 HDI GLOW PLUG RELAY
well i have a measurement of fuel during the priming and it was 350ml
the way the hp pump build presser is to have the system sealed and the only out put is through the fuel presser regulator which gives it the resistance to the flow of fuel and allows the presser to build so that flow from the injector pipe is 36psi and no more
you can't get the pipes on the wrong whay round as the pipes are a diffrent size

Re: 406 HDI GLOW PLUG RELAY
That's the one I got from the breaker,we tested the ohm rating on them both and they were the same?
We have been testing fuel rail pressure sensor readings and autodata says it should be 0.5 volts on ignition and we are gettin 9v?? There are a couple of other bits we seem to be getting the wrong readings on as well, the fuel pressure regulator(control solenoid) was giving us 11v on ignition and then shooting to 12v (battery) when glow plug relay dropped out then when ignition was switched off it was holding 1.5v.
Just checked how much fuel we are getting to the bowl and we are only getting about 180ml on one turn of the ignition.
I measured 350ml of water into the spare bowl I had and then turned the ignition on and it took 2 primes to get me just over 350ml? The fuel filter head does not expand though like it does on my brothers 406, does anyone know the reason behind this, or is it all to do with an electric fault?
Just tested the regulator voltage at the ECU and it's reading 0.05 and autodata says 0.5 that's on the wire side of it and not on the ecu
