help, interior lights

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

help, interior lights

Post by Dan224 »

Hi, the computer display shows my door is open and all the interior lights stay on, can anyone point me in the right direction? The door shuts normally and locks/deadlocks as it should, thinking maybe a switch somewhere....
It's an '01 D9 executive saloon.

Cheers

As far as I know the switch is in the lock itself but I thought it was the same switch that told the BSI all the doors were shut :?

I'll have a look at the diagrams later and see if I can tell you any more (off to town just now :( )

chears Steve, you could be right about the switch as the computer display shows the door is open. Cant realy get out to have proper look as it's persisting it down with rain. :(

edit, if it is connected to the bsi I'd have thought, as it thinks the door is open, it wouldn't allow me to lock it?

Pretty sure it will attempt to lock even if one or more doors is open (or at least, the BSI thinks the doors are open). Neither our 406 HDi nor our 2003 307 have any qualms about locking doors which are quite clearly not shut

Mine dont, if one of the kids doesn't shut the door before I lock it, it just locks and unlocks straight away.

It still tries to lock though, but it physically can't because the latch isn't closed, so it unlocks again, if the latch is closed it will lock, regardless of the switches saying they are open or closed.

There are 2 switches inside the lock! 3 if it has central locking. When you say "your door", you mean that it's the driver's door? I'm not really sure what switch does what, but all the wires head off to the BSI, semi- or full-mux, although the full-mux has the advantage of a connector on each door that can be pulled apart to test.
