Exhaust Compatibility 90/110bhp

Post by Blubayou »

Hi all,

Looking at exhausts on ebay for my HDi 90 estate (2004). Plenty of choice, anyone had any experience of a good oulet?

Also some sites quote different numbers for 90 / 110bhp cars, I beleive all non FAP cars are interchangable?

Thanks in advance :cheesy:

I'm only looking at Service Box here - the 90s only have one silencer (at the back), presumably you wouldn't want to add another one and further restrict flow. The rear silencers for the 90s and 110 are different part numbers. The Siemens also has this weird flat cat and I don't know what difference it makes.

Ok, Thanks Steve,

I'll have a good look under the car & get something which resembles what I've already got.

I'll update when I get something!

Wish me luck :o

Just a quick update & an idea.

Centre pipe is toast where exposed at the rear, silencer is badly corroded, so need all new from cat.

Both parts on order from good old ebay, £51 delivered! Great! will let you know if they fit ok

Anyway, to fit this lot the pipe will need to be cut just behind the cat. While I'm at it, do I smash the guts out of the cat & end up with a slightly smellier car with slightly more efficiency, or will the notoriously poor Siemens management system fail to cope with the lack of back pressure?

Thoughts please? :supafrisk:

Go for it! IMO the first thing you should do with any diesel car is remove/hollow out the cat, my dad wouldn't listen to me when he bought a 307 1.4 hdi, a year later it was having running problems, sometimes no power at all, he changed the air flow meter after a mechanic told him that's what it was, didn't fix the problem, after months of problems he gave in and let me hollow out the cat, which had broken up and was blocking the exhaust!!

My 406 is a siemens (for now!) and has no cat and no related problems, unless the lack of cat made the spring snap!!

Thanks RobTurbo,

That's exactly what I wanted to hear.

Got a few days off soon, should get down to tackling the exhaust & destroying the cat at the same time.

Will update soon 8)

Exhaust fitted, just the job! (allcars-online on ebay).

The centre pipe only goes from the silencer to halfway down the car (it's called a repair pipe) which was perfectly ok for me as the original front pipe is pretty mint at that point. On the downside I was expecting it to link up just behind the cat so I could destroy it, but no where near it. I may drop the pipe off & gut it at a later date.

Quality is ok (made by 'Bensons UK'), not up to the standard of the original but fits well.

Hey, £51 delivered in 3 days, does the job.

Well pleased 8)
