Does the factory alarm have any major problems?

I'm fancying fitting it to my D9, I think all the plugs are there for everything, so it's just a case of plugging it all in then turning it on with pp2000. On service box it says the control module needs coding, will a used one code to a new car in the same way a radio will or will it need a "virgin" file first like a bsi or ecu does?

Assuming I can code a used one to the car it will be a cheap cat1 alarm!

I've no idea about coding the alarm, maybe someone on the coupé club will :?

I'm just looking at the wiring diagram, the semi-mux is the usual spaghetti but the full-mux looks like you won't have to add much - ecu behind the glovebox, console switch, the siren looks like it fits under the l/h wing somewhere and a bonnet switch somewhere near the l/h headlamp.

I'll have a poke around for all the plugs tomorrow to make sure everything is there before I start buying bits, there's a few cheap ecu's on ebay at the minute.

In the meantime I'll have a look on the coupe forum for clues!

After a bit of searching it seems that 2nd hand ecu's can be used, although it's not clear if they need programming or not, either way it doesn't matter, I have a genuine pp2000, so if it needs doing I can do it!

You say the siren lives under the wing? When I've been looking into it the only references I can find to it's whereabouts say it's in the boot, but that was for the D8 and early D9 it would seem, I had a look around under the side carpets in the boot and only found plugs for the sat nav (that's toasted in my car, so I unplugged it to stop any mishaps) and what I believe is the plug for a cd changer. I didn't get too far under the wing, but while I was replacing the snapped n/s/f spring I did notice a large-ish black box, which could well be the potential home for a siren, I'll have a closer look at some point, hopefully tomorrow or the weekend.

It also seems that it will function without the boot and bonnet switches, it will just think they are both closed all the time, so they aren't high on the priority list, for now I've just bought an ecu to make sure it's going to play nice with the bsi and give me fault codes for missing siren, switch and ultrasonics, all going well I'll start the hunt for the rest of the bits at bargain prices!

Ultrasonics? :? I think they forgot to put them on the diagram (seriously not trusting these any more :evil: )

The (iffy) diagrams also show the alarm switch connector (under the coin tray) as a 9-way yellow and the alarm unit connector (above the glovebox somewhere) as a 12-way blue.

According to this there is no extra switch for the boot/tailgate (it's all run off the BSI).

I know I have the plug for the switch, I came across it when I was replacing my handbrake lever, I'm 99% sure I found the alarm unit connector when I was putting a new aerial wire in, there's a 2 pin connector cable tied out the way in about the right place for the bonnet switch, so there's just the siren to find now!

The ultrasonics plug into the alarm unit then run straight up the A pillar then across the top of the windscreen, so there's no wiring in the car for them, it's all part of the sensors.

The alarm module/ecu came today, I dug out the plug and plugged it in, fired up pp2000, activated it in the bsi, then went to access the alarm ecu but got the message "ECU has not replied", the battery in my laptop wasn't fully charged so I just left it at that, I've got it on charge now so I can have another look at it later.

My thoughts are either it needs a fuse or it needs the switch, once the laptop is charged I'm going to look for missing fuses then plug it back in and try again, if that doesn't work I'll look for a switch.

Been and checked, no missing fuses, so next on the list is finding a switch!

The switch came today, still can't connect with pp2000, the switch doesn't seem to do anything, no light or anything, other than the bit that lights up when the headlights are on, I've checked for missing fuses in the BSI, fuse box in the car and the BSM, no missing fuses anywhere.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the alarm? Or know something that I'm missing?

What switches,did you have to put in,
had quick google, and it refers to be having 2 for the Alarm, 1-slam pannel bonnet sensor ipresume, and another one which ipresume,is to enable -disable ultra-sonic sensors,

The switch I got is the one to disable the ultrasonics, but it is also the alarm light so I thought it might have to be there to power the alarm module or something.

Apparently there isn't one on the boot on full mux cars and the bonnet switch is NC, so while the switch isn't plugged in it thinks the bonnet is shut, if you short the pins it will think the bonnet is open, the only things missing now are the siren and the ultrasonics, but I'm not buying them until I see some sign of life from the alarm module!

Not sure how the switch works in the 406s,
but in the 03 Xsara ihad, the switch didnt do Anything,other than knock the sensors off in the car,
afunction, for dog owners, a'spose, Activation was all done by the central locking,

isnt there a battery back up for the alarm,

What is the Makers name of the alarm system used by pug?
if there was a name to search on it might help on the tinter'net search to pull in a Manual,and fitting diagrams,
Siren component might have a battery back up so might be needed to complete the circuit

The module is a Texton, I've tried searching for info, the best I came up with was someone fitting an alarm to an early D9, which is a different module and the siren is in the boot, the only bits the same are the switch and ultrasonics, the module doesn't need coding according to pug, just switch it on in the BSI, the later D9 like mine apparently needs coding (according to service box).

There's no diagrams for it in autodata either :roll:

Ah rite, Texton thats all fitted in the phaze 2 xsara and the pug 206s, too, same parts,
iwill have a nosey round see if ican find some info.

Have you found the brown connector for the siren?
