new MOT for second year

Yeahhhhhhh, 406 just breezed through MOT not even any advisories. Looking forward to another year of cheap motoring (if i keep away from under bonnet)

Mind you spent 2 hours figuring sidelight bulbs out, plastic white things snapped off, and front left side light and right tail light work of same fuse

Considering 20000+ miles a year iv spent in last year

1. 45 for MOT
2. 34 new tyre (puncture)
3. 110 for Mass air flow unit (i bust it)
4. 32 for Glow plugs (didnt realy need them)
5. 35 for New battery (wrong size when bought car)
6. 1 for oil cap (i lost)
7. 25 for fault code read (MAF unit)
8. 1.50 sidelight bulbs
9. 5 for headlight bulbs

I reckon for under 300 thats good motoring for 12months and 20000+ miles and 140 was of my own doing

Going strong at 145000+ miles 45+mpg every tank and with engine chipped to 130 - 140 bhp

Well happy with car that cost 1700, hope i get another good year

Well just wanted to share my joy with you all

Any other nice MOT results this year?

Mine's due in a fortnight... Think my rear brakes will definitely need doing though.

Tempted to put it through an MOT on Monday anyhow just in case it passes and I can get away with postponing the brake work until my back is better and I can do it myself... If I can find somewhere that's got an offer like half price re-tests I'll definitely try

Actually... here's a thought:

If you have a valid MOT certificate and you fail an MOT test, is the original MOT invalidated even if it still has time before it expires?

As far as im aware your old MOT is valid upto the expiry date. I meant to do mine few weeks before but forgot, so had MOT and tax on same day. arrrrrrr

Not sure about that mate, certainly with the old system the MOT was valid until the date of expiry, but I'm sure I read somewhere that with the new computerised system, once the car is booked onto the computer that's it

. If it fails it can't be used (except to take it to a garage for repairs and back to the mot station for a retest, but both these things have to be pre-booked because if you get stopped they can check up) until it passes again.
