how long should glow plugs be heating for
i know they work even after glow plug light has gone out
mine are sttaying on quite some time

The light stayed on on mine for a good 10 seconds in the freezing temperatures yesterday. They will stay on until a certain coolant temperature has been reached or the engine has exceeded a certain rpm for a set period of time.
The HDi engines rely less on plugs and so the light usually only comes on very briefly, if at all.
