bump, anyone
Battery is definitely not charging. Could it be the engine running relay? Where is it located? Under the steering wheel behind the fuse box?
I don't think the double relay will have anything to do with charging. The feed back from the alternator to the battery goes via a terminal on the starter motor, you could check these connections.
Alternators used to need the warning lamp on the dash to actually work, these ones head straight off for the BSI so I've no idea if this is still the case - anyone?
Thanks. The place I bought it from cannot test it on the car so will have to wait until I'm off thursday. Pp2000 showing no faults but I managed to get the blower system running briefly
If possible, check the output voltage at the alternator, then compare it with what you get across the battery, with the engine running.
If there's a difference, you have a problem with the big power cables between the two. Most likely culprit is probably the engine earth, but you can eliminate this by temp connecting the alternator casing to the battery -ve with a jump lead.
What does PP2000 report as the battery voltage?
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Thanks. Will give it a try
How do you check the voltage with pp2000? Got a set of leads with battery connectors but there is no place on the module to plug in the small 2 prong lead
Went through the bsi. Battery voltage was 11.8v dropping when headlights was on. Alternator voltage was 0v constant. Also had engine running output not controlled when it was running. Got a few faults that seemed electrical related. Will post later on my PC
Well, it's definitely not charging, (at least some of the time). I would carefully check all the connections / wiring between the alternator and battery, not forgetting the earth connections.

So I was checking the fuses due to my alternator problem, and was removing them one at a time and starting the car. I removed one that said 'SH' on it (green one) and turned the car ignition on. Got a low oil pressure warning on the display so turned it off and plugged it back in. Turned ignition on and odometer was reset to 0, and nothing happening with the wiper stalk or electric windows or radio. Turned ignition off and turned it to on without starting the car and still had the oil pressure warning but odometer has changed back to the correct mileage. Have I killed the BSI?
