HDI FUEL PUMP TEST

Post by daddykins2 »

is there any way i can test if the pump is working, or some sort of pressure gauge i can buy to try,
the flow from the pump is the same as the flow from the low pressure pump

If you have disconnected the outlet of the high pressure pump it will just flow out slowly because it needs a closed 'head' to generate the pressure.

You should not play around with the high pressure side it is actually dangerous and you risk contamination of the fuel rail which is really bad.

You can read the fuel pressure off a code read exercise. My pressure at tickover was 280 bar (4060 PSi) rising to 450 Bar (6525 PSi) at partial throttle.

If you get very low or negative readings then the pump is not working properly.
