Think its dying on me :(

ever since the cold weather set in my 2.0 hdi 110 seems to running really lump and cuts out all over the place it doesnt give any warning just dies then i have to turn it off and wait for the fuel pump to reset cant just pop the clutch on idling it seems to wanna stall sometimes it does dont have a clue whats wrong with it i thought it might be sh*t in the fuel run redex thru it to no avail i no it has a hole in the top of the tank but am waiting for better weather before i change it, i have also herd of people talking about the fuel strainer but have no idea where it is checked the filter nothing wrong with it. also the fuel pump never seems to cut out anymore can always hear a ticking from it usually i thought once they have the vacuum they stop.

very starnge could it be the pump, air in the system or just sh*t in the pipes.. need help asap as need the car tomorrow

What does the lift pump sound like when you put the ign on?
if it sounds rough it may be on its way out

sounds fine big squirt of diesel think it maybe the little thing nxt to ecu upon giving it a wiggle car cut out

You mean the relay?

if so check the contacts/pins look for any contamination it might be getting abad contact,

yh was gonnaclean it but cant find my wd40 lol

All cleaned no change so gave to loom a wiggle the bit by te pump is missing its cover and I presume snow got into it and it wasn't sat right upon reseatin it gave the car a run up the road no more lumpiness and it didn't cut out hooray see wat its like in few hrs
