I am in Liverpool. I just dont wanna have the hassle, and expense of replacing the pump when it turns out to be the loom or something wire related which someone else seems to think it is? I did get another loom off eBay but it's slightly different so it's just sitting there with my spare lp pump, 2 pressure regulators an a ecu/BSI an transponder chip!!
It's the non bulging of the filter head that has me puzzled more than anything
Well I now know what a woodruff key is.....defiantly never got one of them when I bought the car, I only got door and ignition key
If the woodruff key had snapped or broken then would that stop the pulley wheel from turning?
I have got the timing belt cover off and everything seems to turn as it should???
Don't know if you've got any further with this, but a recent problem of mine might cast a bit of light on the situation. On my way home this evening, mine more or less died - engine kept going, but if I tried to accellerate at all, it just went flat, also strong smell of diesel, then EML light / antipollution fault.......
Dark / no torch, so crawled home, to find the pipe from the lift pump had virtually popped off the fuel filter. Godawful mess.
Seemed to clip back on OK and it starts, but the light's still on, so once the laptop's charged a bit, I'll read the fault code(s) and post here for comparison.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

i had a pipe pop off and it did it more and more so i would replace it thay are cheep from the delers
My pipes are good an locked into position well so that rules that out unfortunately
Someone is going to check my ecu/bsi out for me as I was having a few problems reading it with planet. Seems could be down to the wiring look?? Fingers crossed

Sorry, I wasn't suggesting that was your problem, but thought the resulting error messages from my incident could possibly be compared with yours......(then I forgot to post them).
Only one fault:

Intermittent fault. Diesel high pressure monitoring function. Pressure below the ECU reference value.
No surprises there, but this does confirm there is no error checking on the lift pump / LP circuit, the only sensor involved is the fuel rail pressure sensor.
As this should be recording around 200 Bar while cranking and say 300 Bar / 4500 psi at tickover, is it worth trying to see what you've actually got using a hydraulic pressure guage?

How would I go about checking that out please? My cousin has a diesel injector pressure tester, could we possibly connect that up to it and if so, where?
