I have a Peugeot 406 7 seater estate S reg 1988 , a pre facelift model
A front sidelamp bulb as blown , I can see the bulb from the front , its next to the headlamp bulb , I can access the headlamp bulb to change it , but cannot see how to remove the sidelamp bulb ?
It seems to be hidden behind the headlamp adjustment unit , I can remove this but still dont get access to the bulb
Anyone advise

Aquire a haynes manual, to be told the following:
Hope this helps you buddy1. Depress the retaining clip and remove the access cover from the rear of the headlight unit.
2. Rotate the sidelight bulbholder and release it from the headlight unit. The bulb is of the capless (push fit) type, and can be removed by simply pulling it out of the bulbholder.
3. Refitting is the reverse of the removal procedure, making sure the access cover is securely fitted
The answers no!
Now whats the question?

Re: Peugeot 406 Changing sidelamp Bulbs...How ?
Thanks .....but
Thats my problem , when I remove the cap I only get access to the main headlamp bulb
I can't even see the sidelamp bulb holder from behind this cover never mind touch it to get it to rotate .........
My model is the GLX with the headlamp adjustment from the dashboard , the sidelamp bulb seems to be behind this unit , which I can remove but it doen't expose the sidelamp bulb
I can see the sidelamp bulb when viewed from the front through the headlamp glass , but there is NO obvious aperture to allow access to the sidelamp bulb

Re: Peugeot 406 Changing sidelamp Bulbs...How ?
An old thread but it was never answered so here goes for anyone else reading in the future.
Mine is the facelift version - D9 - from 2000 which I presume is the same as the D8. The sidelamp is accessed from inside the same round "pod" as the main beam. Remove the cover at the back by pressing down on the tab. It looks like you ought to pull it up but don't - it's pushed down. Inside the opening is a long bent plastic handle. Twist this and the bulb is at the end of it. Beware that the bulb is a push fit. If you don't put it back carefully the bulb can fall out into the headlamp body. Be very careful, practice putting the plastic handle back and twisting it before you put the bulb back. Once you know how to do it, then put the bulb in and put it all back. If you do drop the bulb - as I did - you can get it out using a wire coat hanger with sticky tape securely plastered round the end which sticks to the loose bulb. It's a very fiddly job if you haven't done it before. Once you know it's easy enough.

Re: Peugeot 406 Changing sidelamp Bulbs...How ?
Quoting myself from a previous thread:
The D8 sidelights are an interesting engineering design decision.
Take the full beams cover off and disconnect the wiring. Then remove the full beam bulb to give yourself more room. Now grab the white L shaped piece next to the full beam bulb holder and, looking at the rear of the headlight unit, turn it one quarter turn clockwise for the n/s or anticlockwise for the o/s (so the end of the white handle moves towards the bottom of the headlamp unit). Now pull the handle backwards towards the rear of the car and do a bit of wiggling to get it out into the open air so you can replace the bulb.
This is definitely doable with the headlight unit in place and without and further disassembly, and in true Haynes style, refitting is the reverse of removal
