going to do a service on my 04 lag 1.9 dci 112k service book states 5w30 fully syn oil
can i put 10 w 40 in because i have 12 ltrs in my shed (castrol magnatec)

no as you may end up with a sluged up engine and the 10w/40 will reduce the life of your turbo and make the engine louder and less powerfull

Use the 5w30 fully synthetic in those engines, as mentioned already, it's very important!

Dont use the wrong oil mate,
This is why people end up with turbo run-away on the Dci
also when you put the new oil in, dont start the engine for atleast 10 -15 mins give it chance to settle,
And make sure you put the correct amount in, park it on alevel when filling it !
