clutch 2.1 not hdi
looking at buying 2.1 406 but clutch is not biting till last bit of travel on peddle ...
though not slipping
guideds seem to say that it should bite half way ish
my thoughts if its biting on last bit sureely that indicates its worn
ir clutch plate thinner from wear
if it was thicker it would bite sooner
any thoughts

Re: clutch 2.1 not hdi
The 2.1 has a hydraulic clutch release system which is self adjusting as the friction material wears. The biting point tells you nothing about the state of the clutch really. How many miles has the car done?
My 2.1 has always had a high clutch. Had a new Valeo clutch fitted 4,000 miles ago and the biting point had returned to normal after ~500 miles of bedding in.

Re: clutch 2.1 not hdi
Handbrake light could be the handbrake microswitch.
The orange light you describe is indeed the ABS, could be one of many problems there, diagnostics are your best/easiest bet.

Re: clutch 2.1 not hdi
The rubber collars that join the inlet manifold were weeping on my 2.1, I took them off and put some zip ties around them, top and bottom, just tight enough so that they required a small amount off force to put them back on. Problem solved, no more weeping
