Headlight dipped beam bulbs, D9 110 HDI

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Headlight dipped beam bulbs, D9 110 HDI

Post by rustybullets »

HI,
Got one of my dipped beams gone, and need to replace.

Can anyone give me a heads up on what sort of bulb it is,
and recommend which are best, as I mighrt aswell upgrade them both together.
(ps, don't recommend HID conversion, just want to stick to Halogen.)

Thanks. :cheesy:

Cheers guys,

Had a look on the bay, and can find

Osram nightbreakers for about £13,

and Philips x-treme vision for about £21

Anyone used these, or would recommend?

Is it a case of go with Philips. More expensive, but you get what you pay for quality wise.

Sorry for all the questions but not had to buy a halogen bulb for years, the other car is HID and haven't had one fail yet!

I just bought these Osram Nightbreakers: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380517690180 (Pair for £10.95).

Had them in previously (and they both blew last night when I turned them on  )

I've tried quite a few different bulbs over the years, as it went through a phase of eating them quite regularly. I've been really happy with these.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

I used to go to the Auto Express web site & search for bulb tests.Once a year the test loads of bulbs in a light tunnel.Osrams used to come out tops.Since my car eats headlight bulbs i just get Morrisons bulbs at their petrol stations.£2.99 each.I use to have Osram silver stars which were great, but i understand the nightbreakers are the best now.
