Firstly hello all,
I have a 1999 406 hdi and the factroy remote locking has packed up after trying to reset and configure a new remote key I have bought a universal remote locking kit.
The central locking still works on the door locks with a key,I have located the purple and orange wires for locking and unlocking on the back of the bsi unit,my question is does it use positive or negative pulses to control the remote locking,I have locked and unlocked the door whilst having a test light on each wire and I get 12volt positive for a second on each wire when locked/unlocked.With the aftermarket unit I have you can select positive or negative pulses, I wanna get it right as I dont wanna ruin the central locking unit or bsi!!
Many thanks

Re: aftermarket remote locking kit
Forgot to add, If I unlock from passenger side unlocks all doors apart from drivers, then if drivers door is unlocked manually and you lock from passenger side it bounces the central locking up and down untill you lean over and manually lock the drivers door then it will central lock all other doors from passenger side.I take it that means the drivers door lock solenoid/lock assembly is knackered and that the wiring to the door etc should be ok because it all locks and unlocks from the drivers door.
Cheers

check the loom as that sounds like a broken wire

Sounds like when I was looking at the recirculation flap motor - with nothing connected on the end the readings you get on a meter are meaningless. I guess most stuff on the BSI must be like that, it's probably looking for a load on the end of it before it puts the popper signal out. As Max says, the fault might be a broken wire as it goes through the door, or a switch on the lock itself. I don't think this is what was giving you the original problem but you never know.

Re: aftermarket remote locking kit
I think it might be the solenoid/catch assembly as the wiring should be ok as it locks and unlocks via the drivers door, would I be right in saying that the front door solenoids are a switch and a motor in one,I will see about getting another door catch/solenoid off flea bay.
After that is sorted I will give fitting the remote locking kit.
