Update, I now have a drivers side electric window switch from an Executive model from eBay - £30, which I thought was reasonable, so now working as it should.
My Hdi90's steering rack has given up, leaking valve, as have the front brakes and CV joints. This has now become the donor car, losing its door seals, outside temp sensor in the mirror, its black mfd, heater control and stereo front, ashtray, vents and dash surround ( de-silvered the executive as it was tatty ) while still being used until it gives up completely. Then it will lose its headlight and be stripped for spares.
Still waiting for front wing from a friend of mine - and info on how to remove the gearstick ( lift-reverse type ) as I can't figure it out.
Off to Tewkesbury on Saturday, hoping to come back with remap, de-fap, egr removed and serviced. Just need to adjust handbrake before I go so the binding brakes don't catch fire on the journey...!! Will tackle this on Thursday.
Then it will be used every day so can be tarted up during lunchbreaks at work, get that airbag light extinguished etc, as evening are precious now as baby arrived 2 weeks ago.
Will update again next week, maybe with photos too?

New ( ish ) Years Update. My 2.2 has now been fully serviced, De-Faped and had the EGR removed although was still really slow by modern standards, so I pushed the boat out and bought a new Siemens MAF and now going well when it feels like it - it is French after all. New headlight from eBay, new rear discs, pads and handbrake shoes - quite an easy fix, even for me - new backbox from SES ( £40 ). Changed the tatty silver dash and vent trims for older black ones - including the stereo front, fitted a tan leather steering wheel from a Coupe, fixed air-bag light ( orange lead as usual ), fitted a new modulator to be able to use the blower, sprayed the wood veneer trims blue to match the car - looks okay I guess, Got a new silver engine cover from eBay, a strut-brace from Ade, new towball with towing eye, resprayed the wheels silver - turned out to be a flat silver so looks dull - will respray in the summer, thats all I can remember for now.
Most of this work was done by me, thanks to this Forum, must get a sticker for the back window.
Just need to sort the shocking road noise as there is no weather strip along the bottom of the doors - using pipe insulation for now which is actually quite good...., and to find out why it is sluggish in 1st and 2nd but okay in other gears although sometimes flounders when 'encouraged' to keep up with Audis - engine management comes on and limp-mode is on for 2 days after :-(. I suspect a throttle position sensor and more injection cleaner required.
I now have pp2000 and a cheap laptop, so will soon be able to find more faults with the car once I get the hang of it - me and technology are not very well aquainted.
Starting to really like the car....

Good for you. Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble getting the flaws ironed out - sounds like classic vacuum system shenanigans.

Hi Doggy, yes I read the thread a while ago but got a bit blinded by the science bit. IIRC I only have one working EV on the bulkhead as 2 were bypassed by Finchy when EGR removed. They are all plugged in to keep ecu happy but not functioning. Maybe I should get one that definately works and test each one to be certain. Regarding pp2000, sometimes my ECU doesn't respond and there are only limited menus on the laptop, am I doing something wrong as it doesn't seem to like my build code?

All is good.
I had a hunch there was a problem with the throttle position sensor but didn't want to spend the money in case it wasn't. Forum folk were saying to take it off, open it up and fill it with WD40 so I did, a 10minute job. This seems to have done the trick - engine revs over 3000 now, up to 4500 in fact and it revs so much quicker and is much more lively. I also swapped the EV on the bulkhead with one next to it that isn't used/bypassed by Finchy, maybe this has helped too.
I am a happy man now, not so happy with 38mpg but this will get better when the ' whooooosh' novelty wears off..... must improve the brakes first though !!
PP2000 is doing my head in - probably down to the user - will have to persivere with it though.
