electric window issue

Post by trem1 »

right this is on a Ford Focus but i suspect it could happen on most cars.
On my daughters 2002, 5 door focus the drivers window motor spins(you can hear it) but the window doesnt go down or up. You can grasp the window and slide it down so we've propped it up with a bit of wood, we had the doorcard off today and sure enough we can feel the motor spinning.

Is it a new motor thats needed ?? or a window regulator??
Anyone got any idea's

Probably the cables on the regulator have snapped or the centre guide rail fitting has broken and dropped off.

Usually replace regulator, can't remember if the motor comes with it, might do.
