BSI reprogramming for changing/activating features

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

BSI reprogramming for changing/activating features

Post by min »

Hello,

After performing a search on the forum, I couldn't find details related to the changes I'm interested in so I'm posting them in a new topic. My car is an early 2001 2.2HDi saloon ('semi-mux' version - DAM 8830) and I'm wondering if the following changes can be made:

1) auto-wipers feature: is it configurable on my model too (I know it is on later ones)? The random behaviour on 'auto' position is so annoying that I miss my previous cars 'intermitent' position for the wipers. If it's configurable does the 'absence' setting turn it completely off or it makes the wipers work with a preset timing like in an 'intermitent' position?

2) Automatic AC returning to AUTO setting in very low or very high outside temperature: I noticed that if I manually set the climate control (usually with AC off in winter) at every cold start (usually when external temp is below 5 or 10 degrees or so) it 'forgets' the last setting and returns to AUTO. In summer if I leave the car in direct sun not only it passes to AUTO-22 degrees position when I start the engine but it also changes the direction of the air to the face vents (it happened once when it was very hot and I had all the face air vents closed and when I started the car the fan setting was changed automatically to highest, the air vents were closed and the fan was working like crazy to push the air through closed vents :( ). I understood this is not a bug in my car/BSI - it's a sort of 406 feature  Can this be disabled such that at every cold start it will remember the last setting applied (temperature, AC on or off, air direction) before the last engine stop (like in other cars with Climatronic)?

3) 'One touch' turn signal or 'confort blink' - can it be activated or is there available an after market kit for obtaining this feature (I'm refering to the feature when you partially pull the turn signal stalk to the right or to the left and it blinks 3 times)? I saw some time ago a kit on the internet and it worked for 'ground' based blink relays (as I saw also the 406 stalk sends ground through the stalk to the BSI) - has anyone tried it, could it work?

Thanks.
