Decided this morning that my back was nearly good enough to wash all the salt and crud build up off the 406 but first i wanted to get some color match made up.. While the bloke was mixing the paint he mentioned getting some G3 cutting compound to bring the color up nicely (i had been thinking of giving her a good seeing to anyway)
So thought I'd nip to Helfrauds to see what range was best to get... I saw a few different G3 products but wern't sure what was best to get and i wern't paying helfrauds prices anyway just having a nosey.
So what have you clever barstewards used that can be recommended? i got a bit of paypal money built up so could do with buying online really ebay maybe?

Use neat (carefully) to get rid of minor scratches or with a wet cloth to restore the shine to the paintwork.
To give you an idea of what it can do here is an old 320i I sold for my Dad a while ago after a good going over with the G3 & a wet cloth:

Polishes are like sand paper. You get course ones down to very very fine ones.
They have grit in them and the grit actually rubs away at the top layer of paint.
Lots of more advanced polishes such as the 3M range and meguiars have deminishing abrasaives. As such when you polish the 'grit' gets finer and finer and in the case of Meguiars 105 you can actually remove a large amount of paint and still get a cracking finish.
You want to be using the finest polish you can get away with for the damage on your car. Otherwise you are unnecesarily removing good paint.
G3, Farcela etc are very harsh polishes. Neither are they deminishing so they just carry on eating away at the paint regardless of how much or how hard you rub.
Also if you want to give the car a good polish your better off using a DA or Rotary polisher.
Personally if your doing it by hand then give Meguiars ultimate compound a try. Really good stuff for the money!

They are engineered diminishing abrasives and are 3 of a 4 step programme <<< for want of a better word
The first step is a detox shampoo £6.99 in Helfrauds I'm not sure wether to get that aswell or use the shampoo i already have with the old preasure washer.
My other problem is when to do all this? i washed it a week back and it's stinking again.... It's fooking cold out there but looks to be warming up later in the week... A scorchio warmth of 9 degrees quoted
