EML - Limp mode?

Post by Sonia406 »

New to these digital cars, never used to be like this back in my day

I have two faults with the car:

ABS sensor at fault rear o/s wheel needs investigating.

Airbag electrics need looking at.

Can either of these faults make the Engine Management Light come on?

What is usually the cause of the EML coming on?

Car has not been moved in 10 months, during which time she has been started and moved occasionally on the drive, granted not far at all.

Thanks

Neither of those will light the EML, but just about any engine ecu related snag will......

If it doesn't clear by itself, (they sometimes do after a few days use), you need to get it diagnosed to find out.

2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Thanks, I had some diagnostics done already and that only picked up those two faults, so it's thrown me a bit.
Some people say: it will trigger the EML and some people say not. I guess I just have to do a 'proper job' of these two faults and see what's what afterwards..........

I've had cars previously where a flat battery would bring up the engine management light. However, this has never occurred on any of my Peugeots (if memory serves it was on a couple of old Vauxhalls).

Definitely can't be that (Wish it was, lol) I replaced the battery only a few short weeks ago, have a multi meter and definitely keeping the juice!

Back to the drawing board we go...............

P.s IT is NOT in limp mode, I thought it may be but it is not

I had the belief that the EML = limp mode but as she's able to rev the tits off I believe she isn't....... Of course I can't see about the power and mph because she's off road but because I can get well over 4,000 revs I believe she is not......... :D

My eml light came on last spring while i was away but no limp mode,i called the AA out anyway and it came up with "cruise control brake pedal switch fault" and "maf sensor fault" he cleared them and they've never come back since, neither faults affected the car in anyway.
