Cam belt change

Post by Brillo »

Hi guys,
can someone tell me when is the recommended cam belt change for my V6 auto. It's had main dealer services up to 53K and is now on 58K,I can't see any reference to a cam belt change thus far in the service book but as I'm off down Cornwall soon I want peace of mind.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure it's 8 years or 80000 miles on the D9s, so that's even better for you Brillo :cheesy:

The HDi is 96000 mile intervals, mine had done 103000 on it's first belt :P

Phew that makes me much happier, my HDI 110 has done 68k and I was worried it'd need the belt at 72k. Which would make it an expensive year as it needs:

New Front Discs - Had a look in Halfords and they wanted £90 per disc (screw that) anyone got a price on the originals?
Clutch - Peugeot in Maidstone quoted £480 Parts and Labour
Major Service - £200 Again with Peugeot

So with a Cambelt on top it could be a very expensive year!!

I think mine's overdue a belt change, but I remember reading on here that it's a killer for labour on the turbos :(

the belt on a turbo is easy as fook, unless the bottom pulley has slipped then the timing marks wont line up

But the bottom pulley is easy to sort out now I know how... :D also, if you do it properly with a flywheel locking tool.... you don't need the timing hole:D check me out.

The belt on the Turbo is easy, just make sure you use a new tensioner!

The water pump isn't mission critical with the belt, as some people would have you believe, in fact if your coolant has always been replenished/replaced properly then the water pump is good for many, many, many miles ! did I say many ? I meant many, many, many :D
