Bottom Pulley screwed again

Post by GeordieBoy »

About 4mth ago the Bottom Pulley went so it was replaced by a 2nd hand 1 for £20, now that 1 has just gone.

Gonna get a new 1 this time tho, £59+VAT + Fitting. Cant get it til Mon tho, been told not to drive it as it makes that much noise its unbelievable and if it breaks off it could fook up the engine. So when I do drive it I will just take me time til its sorted.

Sorry to hear about your toubles mate...

Mind you, if you race the guts out of your car like you so often state you do (pulling over 100mph regularly then pissing and moaning when things go wrong), things will give way eventually. I'd hate to say I told you so, but the 406 is a family saloon cruiser, not a race car.

Harsh, but true I'm afriad.

As you know now, best not to buy parts like pulleyssecond hand, as their known for breaking down and you don't know the history of the part your fitting.

Never mind, at least your getting a new one now. I paid £140 for part and fitting in an independant garage for the pulley to be changed on mine.

Yeah I race the tits off the car, I should get 40mpg but I normally get 27mpg so that'll tell ya how I drive (I drive like I stole it). :cheesy: :cheesy:

Gonna get another car for some RWD fun soon, otherwise I know I'm gonna kill this car.

Depends on price, and if its taxed and has a long MOT? I'm thinking of a Sierra Sapphire 2.0 GLX/GLS/Ghia for a few hundred £.

There are 2 types, the 'Citroen' type being the far more expensive, which is what looks like Neil (and me) has on his motor. The pug type is about £55, so not so bad.

Jeez, Geordieboy - you must absulutely murder your throttle pedal. no matter how hard I larruped my HDi I never got it below 45mpg. My Mi16 gives better MPG than you're getting!

it has no tax but a bit of mot, and should go through the next one with no trouble, he wants £1500, but has spent double that getting that power
