Weird goings on.

Post by stuartkeith »

Hey peeps, me again.

My 406 is a 2000 reg 1.8l petrol, 110k. Sometimes it will do funny things upon starting, im thinking it may be fuel filter as I do tend being poor to drive it until the needle wont even move on the fuel gauge!

When it starts it will rev up to about 2k and then drop to 1k and then again 2 or 3 times. It will then just cut out. I will restart it and it will just cut out again. If i keep the power on to 1.5k she will hum fine.

I then stop driving and so as I take of power and out of gear she cuts out. This will happen for about 10minutes.

It only happens occasionally but a bit annoying when it dose. Ive stuck some jet cleaner in the last tank but its done it since with that in there.

Could be the idle control valve, thats a quite common cause of idling issues. Mine would cut out while at low revs during parking and slowing down for traffic lights, hot and cold. When it did cut out it wouldn't start without a bit of throttle. Possibly cleaning but replacing it should stop the fault, I followed a how 2 on here to replace it.
