Hmm. Service box lists 4 tanks for the 2.1 (but unfortunately not the capacity):

1500 G5 NFP 01- UNTIL RPO 07973 EXCEPT DIESEL FUEL

1500 Q1 NFP 01 - SINCE RPO 07974 EXCEPT DIESEL FUEL

1500 G3 NFP 01 - UNTIL RPO 07973

1500 Q2 NFP 01- DIESEL FUEL SINCE RPO 07974

(07973 is 07/08/1998)

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

I did once put £95 in my tank - then noticed it pouring out over the floor when I came back from paying, a heart-sinking feeling.
Just stick to £50 or £60 a time now...... Must be a hole somewhere, will look when I can get the car high enough.

Filled from nearly empty, I fill up to 73 litres.. so it must be a 75 litre tank. Unless the petrol pumps are lying...

According to the specs the tanks on all 406s were 70 litre, but I've heard rumours of an additional bit of "reserve" space. Plus you'll get a few litres in the filler hose between the filler and the tank. So if it's really really empty, squeezing 75 litres in may be possible.

That said I do have my doubts about the calibration / accuracy of some petrol stations :supafrisk:
