406 2.1 diesel problem

while driving the car the ecu light flashes on and it seem as if the engine dies.as soon as foot is taken off accelerator the light goes out and the car drives as normal but if foot is left on pedal when light comes on the problem lasts longer. there is no specific timing when this happens. might happen several times in one journey or not at all. not days are the same. doesn't seem to be associated with any tupe of conditions i.e cold, damp hot etc. peugeot dealer has put on computer and cannot find fault. it has been doing this for about 6 months now on and off. can anyone out there help. thanks

usually on the 2.1 this will be the injection pump, its quite common unfortunatley
