Do you know what...

Post by Bailes1992 »

I have thousands of pounds worth of detailing gear belonging to me. Yet the products I used on my car yesterday cost me £30 :?

Suffice to say yesterday, I threw most of it out :cheesy:

Looking good Sam.

I'm on the verge of using fairy liquid on mine, i've been in 5 shops this week to get car shampoo and none of them had any it was like everyone saw some sunshine and cleaned their cars thus emptying asda, Morrisons, Home bargains, tesco express and the £1 shop in Tredegar of all it's car shampoo.... Which reminds me on Tuesday i went to asda for diesel and the queue for the car wash was all the way back to the express lane i had to queue to get out after topping up.

Well I'm stuck in all day tomorrow so unless the £1 shop near me has some the fairy liquid is coming out  .... If it don't feel like it's -5 out there like today did.

I got given most of it when I was working for a detailing company. Lots of full sized samples off reps etc.

Had a load of Danase gear sent over to me from America. They wanted us to buy a load of it before he shut up shop. Some of it was amazing (Wet glaze for instance, which is an acrylic glaze that can be layered under/on top of between sealents) but other stuff (Like their compounds) were utter shite.

Had 4 bottles of a product called Black Wow. It was a product that started in America and had LOADS AND LOADS of hype, yet it was utter dire. Again I was given bottles of this stuff to try and hand out as samples.

Loads of interior dressings that were usless.

Had a box of a hundred Autoglym Airfreshners which didn't seem to smell at all.

Kept all my waxes. I love my waxes! Have hundreds and hundreds of pounds worth.
Got £15 waxes like Meguiars #16.
Danase Wax which is a nice glossy easy to use wax but isn't very durable.
Got Swissvax Onyx which I paid ~£60 for.
Raceglaze #55 which cost me £75

etc etc.

Kept lots of stuff, but there was lots of gear I really didn't need.

Also kept my polishing gear. Have a Porter cable DA polisher but needs some new pads. Kept my Meguiars #85, #83 and #80 compounds.

You'd be better of NOT washing the car than going to a car wash.

An Automatic Car Wash or Hand Wash by one of these old Petrol Forecourt places just damages the paint finish - you'll get loads of swirl marks creating more work for you later on.

I'm nearly out of my Zymol shampoo, got it from Halfords (and without a court case :P ) any recommendations on other shampoo's would be good (wax-safe of course, wash 'n' wax stuff is a ridiculous concept).

I know I know! I used to detest them but like I said, since getting my casr scrtached I just think, why bother?

But now the weathers improving I must get into it a bit.

DoDo Juice shampoos are cracking! Whenever people ask me to get them stuff to keep their cars good I always buy dodojuice gear as it's always easy to use and decent!
I'm using and really liking Meguiars Ultimate shampoo at the moment.

If your looking for Value for money then Meguiars Hyper Wash and Shampoo Plus will last you forever!

Thats the problem with lots of these fancy car cleaning products. You pay for the packaging rather than the product itself.
Saying that most of the DODO Juice gear is just in nice clear plastic containers, nothing too fancy!

My Meguiars #16 wax is always good fun to use. You can pick a pot up for £11 and it's just in a metal tin. You get LOADS of the stuff, it beads water better than waxes costing 5x as much and can last 4-6 months through the summer!

Duraglos 901 shampoo is awesome!

I have a few Duraglos sealents and I'm well impressed with them. Rumors have it they are just Zaiono gear :supafrisk:

The Duraglos 921 Quick Detailer smells like cherrys... And I can safley say that it dosen't taste like it!
