Goodbye To The Partner
The Peugeot Partner that is - not the wife! Picking up the new car tomorrow. Everybody's probably guessed what it is by now & due to it not being a Pug I've got a few more bits that'll be going on Ebay unless anyone here wants them (306 alloys, cruise control stalk, steering control adaptor for stereo + what's left of the 406 spares) to recoup a few quid. But there is an annoyance - I've still got nearly 3/4 of a tank of diesel in the Partner that won't get used on the 30 miles that I'm going to do in it tomorrow.
Don't suppose anyone knows if Berlingo/Partners have an anti-siphoning filter or will it be worth getting a length of hose & a fuel can out tomorrow?

Don't know, sorry - but do I know from personal experience that if the quick-release coupling at the fuel filter on the pipe from the lift pump decides it wants a change of scenery the resulting oil spill will have Greenpeace on your case in seconds......waue1978 wrote:Don't suppose anyone knows if Berlingo/Partners have an anti-siphoning filter or will it be worth getting a length of hose & a fuel can out tomorrow?

Re: Goodbye To The Partner
Didn't manage to recoup any of the fuel in the end. But there was half a tank in the new car anyway, so not a massive loss - just would have been nice to convert that to a full tank with what could have come out of the Partner.
Anyway, here it is. It's home now & although it's been cleaned by the dealer, it still isn't quite up to my standard. Haven't taken any pics myself yet, but these were from the Autotrader ad that made me take a closer look:

Is it just me or has anybody else found that Photobucket is a bloody nightmare since it became the "new" Photobucket?

Re: Goodbye To The Partner
Certainly very clean anyway
It'll be interesting to know if the DTis are as uneconomical as the books says.
Pompei?
I wouldn't call the new bloatophucket a nightmare but they certainly have made things more complicated, with many more clicks required to do anything now. They've been threatening to do something similar with BBC Radio iPlayer for a while now, I tried the "new" look once but I really didn't enjoy the experience so I'm hoping they ditch the idea.

Re: Goodbye To The Partner
I'm a bit perplexed by that one too. I was expecting a computer reference with CPU in the registration. Going to be a calculator on fill ups job with the MPG as (like the Partner) the Zafira doesn't have a trip computer, but I've heard that it can be added, so that may be one for a bit further down the line. The Partner was a touch better than the 406 was around town averaging 35MPG on my running (406 was usually 33), but was definitely worse on the motorway due to the breeze block aerodynamics.steve_earwig wrote: Pompei?![]()
If it's still over 30MPG on my regular runs, I'll be happy.
Partner's been cleaned & put up for sale already, & I have to say, much as I usually can't stand used car dealers, this couple do seem quite genuine & not too greedy. Way below £1000 mark up on my p/x which is really unusual, especially seeing as they'll be putting a fresh MOT on it:

Re: Goodbye To The Partner
Aha.
I had one of those as a taxi last Wednesday and was very disappointed to find it really very pleasant and very capable. It must have been newer than that one because it had a radio like the ones in Vectras, and there was a largish screen above it.

Re: Goodbye To The Partner
That'd be the Zafira B then. I quite like them, but a diesel one of them would have been significantly more than I've got this one for & I'm not entirely convinced that the CDTi engine isn't another over complicated disaster waiting to happen.rwb wrote:Aha.

How about that. Similar ages too. Although it has to be said, mine stayed quite close to home in it's 10 years (previous owner lived in Newbury whilst I'm only the 3rd) whereas yours had a bit of a journey before it found a home it was happy with in Northamptonshire. Didn't you get it from a guy in Kent if I read correctly?Doggy wrote: I know, 'cos it's almost the same as wot mine is......
