if it does it at idle it could be piston rings or valve stem seals

I've done a compression test and all four readings are the same. :?

At a lose really, there is a small trace of oil in the boost pipes so guessing its the turbo.

The engine was apart in my garage for a year so i think the seals might of dryed out.

i would do the valve stem seals then, its a far cheaper option than replacing the turbo

Is there a way to check the valve seals before taking the engine apart?

I've got a spare complete head in the garage which worked ok before i removed so may just fit that and rebuild the turbo while the heads off. :?

Hi Chap,

TBH, I think the first thing you need to do is check the oil breather filter that I commented on in my first reply on this post, failing that you should also check for play on the turbo's shaft, the seals will usually only go if there is uneven load on the turbine shaft, which causes excessive bearing wear and this is where the wobble/play is then produced.

If the shaft has play, then expect some oil to reside in the charge pipes, only thing you can do is service the turbo.. then clean out all of the pipes.
