Lowering springs

Hi guys i'm new here, i have just bought myself a '96 406 d turbo and wanting to get it some lows ive had a look around fleabay and found some eibach lowering springs off a v6 coupe for 80 quid, but does anyone know if they will fit? If not recommend me some that will thanks for any help much appreciated

Welcome to the forum matey, not had too much involvement in lowering cars but this worked quite well for me last weekend.

Thanks for that but its not what I'm looking for in all honesty I want something a bit less pricey

In fairness, I know nothing about lowering a car... well I know enough in the respect you hit a pot hole and bye bye bumper

To be honest I'm debating whether its even worth it, it handles pretty well at the moment and its such a comfy ride, I'd only be doing it for the looks

I don't know whether people in the UK do this or not, (I certainly haven't seen any) but have you thought about installing an 'air bag' sort of system? Ride up high, stationary low? That way you get the same handling without risking bumpers but at shows you get the cool factor because it's sitting low while stationary?

Yeah that's what I thought haha. I don't want to spend any more than £150 doing it so it's gonna be way over that

Personally, I wouldn't bother!

My brother had lowering springs on his 406....I got sick of going round and refitting his rear exhaust, got knocked off soooo many times....also I got sick of refitting his front bumper after that got knocked off, a real PIA.

Yeah but if he had the air bag system he would ride high but sit low only when stationary.... Combining both luxurys etc..

Air suspension eh?? Just like a bus.
As the ever wise Jasper says, on cars this cheap it's best to leave it alone and enjoy your very cheap and splendid car for what it is, a comfortable cruising machine.
