Oh dear you could check the top mounts whilst replacing the spring.
Weird how the always go overnight, I can't recall anyone on here suffering a sproken bring whilst actually at the wheel. My mechanic told me of someone in a Laguna where the spring went at 70mph, tore through the tyre and sent him into a field at speed

Both top mounts have been done welly when the front wheel
bearings were replaced , the driver side top mount was really
bad it had siezed so looks like it had weakened the spring
