Airbag Light On

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Airbag Light On

Post by dmrstott »

Hi guys,

Newbie to the forum, first post and new 406 owner as well.

Only real problem I have at present is I have both the air bag and passenger air bag lights on. Have had in plugged in to a diagbox / pps with a mate and he is saying the airbag ecu isn't communicating with the bsi.

He wonders if a drink has been spilt, but when I removed the console area to inspect it all looks like no fluid has been spilt there at any point in time.

Any tips or hints you could give would be very much appreciated.

Many Thanks
Dave

Air bag lights are usually down to the under seat pre-tensioner connectors getting stretched over time, it's always worth giving them a good clean and making sure they're good tight connections.
While this is obviously not a 100% diagnosis I've seen it on various makes and models.

I'd pull the battery (usual battery removal procedure) and have a look/clean at the connectors possibly followed by a BSI reset.

Hope that helps

Yea I agree 99% chance of it being the connections under the seat, a lot of people replace the plugs and solder/connect the wires together as if you aren't gonna be removing the front seats it will never be a issue.
