Rear Calipers

Post by Nandad »

Needed new rear pads for my Executive so I went the whole hog and got myself new discs , pads and shoes. How the hell do you remove the caliper? I've taken the pads out, moved back the shoes but I cant get the caliper to move. Read all the posts regarding rear brakes but can't remove either slider. Also noticed that only one of the pads has been in full contact with the disk surface the other only partially but both piston are free. Sticking slides? Any suggestions please

Hi, there are 2 bolts, one is a 17mm ( I think ) on top of the caliper at the back, and there is a hex bolt under a rubber bung at the bottom of the caliper at the back. They might be a bit stiff at first, but they hold the caliper to the back-plate.
The whole caliper will come away from the disc, but don't forget to tie it up safely while changing disc to avoid straining the brake pipe.

The bolt is 16mm, the allen bolt is 6mm.
