''Dead Lock''?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Worth trying the key in the door method twice to check for deadlocks.
turn it once to lock it, let the key return but don't take it out of the lock,
then turn it again, and you should get another locking clunk to confirm the deadlock.
You are absolutely right
My car DOES have a deadlock facility, for some one reason or another it isn't working via the Fob.
I locked the car, window down. Turned the key as if to lock it again, a quieter but definite clunk was heard.
Tried the door handle from the inside and it's dead locked.
Alarm didn't go off - well, I don't have one so didn't expect that anyway...
Unlocked with the fob as normal.

Do I use this extra lock or not - that is the question and why isn't the fob working.....
Will wait for new key to arrive, swap it all over and then try again :D

Yep, all 3 of my 406s have had dead locks and no alarm. On the 52 plate they operate the first time you lock it, on the V reg and D8 you use the little button on the remote.
Does your red light come on when your little button is pressed?? :P :P

:cheesy:

May be just the microswitch in the fob not working. :?:

But at least you know you can deadlock it if needed now.

Nope... Didn't work with the old button in, nor the new button...

It is quite possible..

If anyone has one of these keys I'd like to see what the micro switch looks like...

Sonia have you got the pcb for yours? basically there are 2 different types for the Peugeots the infa red transmitter that were used on earlier models distinguished by a little clear plastic section that sticks out at the bottom of the fob and the radio transmitter ones which appears to be your type.
I have a spare key fob for a later 206 (2 button) that should work if you want it I had issues with my 406 when I first bought it but the passenger side central locking motor/solenoid is faulty so I haven't bothered!!
