I've started checking bulbs since I have a lot of fails on them -- including "side repeater not orange enough" -- but they're the most serious fails I've had. I do follow up on advisories though.
I've been working outside on cars through 43 years, cold, wet, hot sunshine, snow and everything in between and I'll be 60 at Christmas
Sorry jasper, But as a ex truck fitter I to have been used to working outside in all wethers & temps i.e: laying on my back with snow on the floor & minus 5c but I choose not to these day's if I can help it due to arthritic joint's in fingers

I was only teasing
If I had a choice I would be inside doing office work
My fingers are not very happy either.
My family keep telling me I shouldn't be working out in all weathers at my age, they want me to retire at Christmas.
Regarding mot testing, whenever a customer asks for an mot check I just take it in and let the mot tester decide....they don't charge for retest.
Well I've not had time to do Jack so it's booked in for tomorrow I'll check the lights later but that's it.

Crikey moses another 406 with a 12 month ticket for the tidy sum of £35... I'll take that all day.
3 advisories.
1: play in steering rack inner joint?
2: Center eggsause blowing (flexi i think)
3: n/s/f top strut mount bearing stiff.
Errm is no3 one to get done asap? is that what brakes springs?

It seems a graunchy top bearing can put the spring under too much twisty motion and accelerate it's snappage so yes I'd think about getting both toppies done soon.
I thought ANY eggsauce leak was a fail? especially the flexi doo-dad as that can spill into the cabin and poison you to at the traffic lights
The steering wack joint inner joint? maybe that's the inner tie-rod (inner track rod) I've had to replace those on the Volvo - it was dead easy (for the bloke) and the parts were cheap. A new steering wack on the other hand.......
Cars in my care:
2021 Kia Spottage 1.6 Pez Turbo Dual Clutch Gearbox Trickery
2013 Renner Twingo - donkey work
Funny enough just before he told me it had passed i spotted 3 new steering racks in boxes on the floor... Maybe there's a rack disease going around here.
Both toppies? that sounds expensive? cheaper than the whole jobbie though i guess.
I thought an exhaust blow was a fail too.

There's a date stamp on the one that don't need changing it's 09/2009 so that ones been on there nearly 4 years anyway so i'll get a price on both....i'm guessing it's not a diy jobbie?

You can replace them yourself if you have access to some long threaded coil spring clamps or access to a hydraulic spring compressor....plus, you need to be able to remove the suspension strut.

Think i'll leave that to the man with the tools for the job then, Jasper if the strut has to be removed is it worth letting him do the drop links too? i have one already here.

Definitely
The drop link fastens to the strut so one part of it has to be removed anyway.
