These replacement car parts seem to be shyte nowadays; e.g. I replaced my Aux Belt Tensioners last summer and one of them had failed already in less than 8K miles :frown:

OK, I need new front ones as it clangs and bangs even driving over a Jaffa cake...

What parts do the Pug dealers use? Delphi? I want something that lasts longer than 6 months on our "Russian" roads here in Somerset.

Delphi are OE on many cars for all sorts of parts.

I use First Line suspension parts, never had any trouble with them and they last....most garages use First Line...round here at least....£9 trade price last time I bought one.

I can also vouch for First Line stuff - since almost every single sussy part on my Fordvo has now been replaced with their stuff, most of its been on for 2 years without a single creak or moan.

The picture probably is accurate. The last Bottom Ball Joint I bought came with the same shaped protective plastic 'hood' over the rubber joint cover for protection whilst in transit. Just taking them off reveals the 'proper' rubber cover underneath.

Well I've got a pair of the Delphi ones. They're clearly different to the Contitech ones I have on: more substantial boot and hex in the end of the bolt instead of a flat at the end of the boot.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

Drop links replaced. That is the most substantial job I've done myself on it :D
One bolt went very very stiff, but otherwise straightforward. No doubt my job was made much easier by Jasper5 having taken them off and put them back a couple of weeks ago. I would have been in a mess were it not for FP's picture levering the anti-roll bar against the wishbone, and a pep-talk from Sonia.

It's so quiet now!
