Hands up - who watched it?

Post by Sonia406 »

Pikes Peak has a new king.... Mr Loeb did practice runs in 8 min 25 seconds - today he managed 8 min 13 seconds!
That man literally FLEW.
So, 25 years after the 405 T16 they have done it again, in a 208 T16.
875 BPH (Peed me when the commentators just said 800....)

Camera coverage was pretty piss poor, They showed on board camera at the front which showed Loeb getting strapped in and geared up (he even had Oxygen CPAP on) then for the lap they did helicopter coverage was as I say, was poor.

Victory for the Lion again, I bet this will do sales wonders, especially with Bradley Philpot in the 208 GTi that's just done the nurburgring too....... :D

Who else watched it, what are your thoughts?

I didnt watched it yet,but i think its dumb they put asphalt,it changes everything.
congrats to Loeb, but i still would take 405 with Ari anytime.

Peugeot had it all with B group rally and 205 but from then, they produced weak cars, not comparable to germans, look at VW today, luxurious cars, extreme engines inside, and what
was the most strongest peugeot engines, bloody V6 :|
Imagine top of the range peugeot 406 V8 with some sick performance, yea :cheesy:

I admit, it's changed it all....
Ari in the 405 didn't half have some balls - that was really skilful!
Take it upon yourself to whack that V8 in a 406........ make sure it's MY 406 tho lol!!

Just got through watching this on YouTube. Some notes on the experience:

1) Oh. My. God. That little Pug can't half bloody shift!
2) The camera footage was awful, and were they broadcasting the video over a mobile phone with 1 bar signal strength? Blocky, and cut out very often.
3) American sports commentators need to learn to SHUT UP already.
4) They should have put the commentators in a soundproof booth, rather than 6 feet from the starting line, so that you can still hear them when the next competitor begins his/her run.
5) Actually, thinking about point 3 more, maybe scrap point 4.

Seriously, well done to Sebastian Loeb and to Peugeot Sport. Also, please make a production version of the 208 T16 - a properly hot hatch. Thanks.
2002 (D9) Peugeot 406 Coupe SE, 2.2 litre Petrol. Scarlet Red/Rouge Ecarlate/Rosso Scarlatto. Black Leather interior. SOLD :(
2008 (E60 LCI) BMW 525i M-Sport, 3.0 litre Petrol. Carbonschwarz Metallic. Black Dakota Leather and Myrtlewood interior.

i agree ,i would love to see peugeot sport vehicles in a full sense not just put some crappy 1.6 gti engine and call that sport, that is not sport car,its just a faster grocery vehicle.

Sonia, peugeot dont have original V8 engine in it so it wouldnt be a proper peugeot interceptor, one day i will try to boost up this 2.0 tubby to its max power :D

^^ Agreed!
I'd of liked to of seen more COCK pit action.. when the helicopter camera died - it would've been nice to see Loeb!

Did you see Top Gear last night? (New series?) They had the gti versions of Renault, Peugeot 208 and the Ford Fiesta ST ........... Ford was slower but for some reason the jerks behind that program said to buy one?
Are they actually planning to sell road versions of the 208 T16?

They knew I'd be watching ;)

In all seriousness though, not wishing to discredit Mr Loeb because I think the sun shines out of his ass - but Ari literally had balls, driving one handed into the sun with one up to shade himself from the sun and then literally on the edge of the cliffs....

But that also said Sebastian went flat out round there (even did it faster than his practice runs) and that took 1 min 30 odd off the record...... Damn fast!
