dreaded com2000

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

dreaded com2000

Post by davew »

i just bought a 2003 hdi estate one owner with 90,000miles , a few things needs sorting, front disc,s and pads, outside temp sensor not working and problems with the com2000, everything works ok apart from the indicator switch feels a bit loose and when indicating right the stalk then flick to the left ,i've heard of people stretching the spring which i may try but i'm also going to keep an eye out for a replacement.
is there anyway i can tell which one my car has fitted without removing the old one and checking the part numbers, thanks :)

I know how you feel, I have indicators that don't turn off after going round a corner, my comm unit has esp which makes it very hard to find, and pricey.
As for the outside temp sensor, it is the little bump you can feel on the underside of the passenger wing mirror. An easy thing to replace, just part-strip the mirror, unscrew the sensor, chop the wires then wire and screw in the new one.

The com2000 with ESP for an estate is the same one as fitted to a 206 gti180,i bought one off ebay last year and fitted it to mine.Gives you a bit more scope when looking for a used one.

G.S.F stock the velleo replacement ones that are much better than the troublesome davi units that were fitted from new, they are over £300 from the main steelers or £150 ish from G.S.F, but there is a chap on ebay who can repair your shagged one for £24.95 8) If you can be without the car for a few day's or alternativly drive your car to him & he'll do it while you wait :cheesy: , I'm getting mine done in the next couple of weeks so if you hang on I'll let you know how it work's out.
